A Glimmer of Hope for C Murder

The NAACP is now involved in Corey “C-Murder” Miller’s homicide case, requesting that the Supreme Court step in over evidence of jury tampering.

Miller was sentenced to life in prison on August 11 for the murder of 16 year old Steve Thomas, who was shot after a 2002 altercation with the rapper in a Harvey nightclub.

The jury reached the conviction through a vote of 10-2. The ruling was controversial, as juror Mary Jacob claimed that her guilty vote made under pressure from fellow jurors to end the drawn-out trial.

She stated in an interview that she was verbally abused, and became physically ill during the sessions.

Judge Hans Liljeberg ordered another deliberation, which resulted in a second 10-2 verdict that was upheld.

Louisiana NAACP President Ernest Johnson wrote a letter to Chief Justice Catherine Kimble, calling for her court to conduct “a full investigation of this entire case, the immediate removal of the trial judge, the appointment of a new judge from outside the 24th Judicial District to hear all post trial motions, and the immediate release of Mr. Miller from prison pending a review of this entire matter because justice delayed is justice denied.”

At press time, the Louisiana’s Supreme Court has not released a statement on whether Miller’s conviction will be reviewed.

Interscope head honcho Jimmy Iovine and the infamous Dr. Dre have reported joined together with Hewlett-Packward (HP) to help provide higher sound quality for digital music files.

Although there is not a set release date, HP will kick-off a range of premium laptops, headphones and software that will come under the Beats By Dr. Dre brand umbrella.

Consumers had previously accepted a degree of deterioration in sound quality in exchange for the speed, portability and convenience that digital brings to music. However, with mass broadband uptake, larger files can now be moved around online with relative ease and, as a result, consumers are demanding better audio quality from their downloads.

In related news, Jimmy Iovine recently talked about trying to improve the music quality when he spoke with CNET. “We have to fix the entire chain,” Iovine explained. “Our position is to go to all the sources and try to improve sound and educate people…We can’t put anything weak in the line. Whoever puts out things that sound bad shouldn’t be as cool as something that sounds great…I just want our product to sound better. The record business committed many, many mistakes in the last ten years, and I’m right in there. One of them was letting its product get degraded. It’s one thing to let it get stolen, it’s another to allow it to be degraded because then you really don’t have a chance…video games and TV quality are getting better and the quality of our work is getting lower. If that happens, then music will become disposable. That’s something we can fix.”

Jimi Hendrix Supposedly Murdered By His Manager

Jimi Hendrix's former roadie claims the guitar legend was murdered by his own manager - as part of a life insurance swindle.
James 'Tappy' Wright says Hendrix's manager Michael Jeffery confessed the crime to him a year later, during a drunken session at the roadie's house.

According to Wright - whose revelations feature in his upcoming tell-all tome Rock Roadie - Jeffery visited Hendrix at the London hotel he was staying at and plied him with pills and alcohol.

Jeffery had to make sure the death didn't look like a suicide otherwise the life insurance policy he'd taken out on Hendrix - which named him as the sole beneficiary of a $2million payout - would have been thrown into jeopardy, claims Wright.

Hendrix died in September 1970 after he'd choked on his own vomit.

The official cause of death was 'barbiturate intoxication and inhalation of vomit' - but mystery has always surrounded the 27-year-old's tragic demise.

John Bannister, the surgeon who tried to revive Hendrix, admitted in 1992 that he was surprised at the lack of red wine - which the rocker had supposedly been drinking - in his bloodstream.

Jeffery died in a plane crash in 1973, two years after making his alleged confession to Wright.
